Admission Criteria – Applicant Profile

The Master’s Degree in Artistic Education in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Europe is aimed at graduates in conservation and restoration (MECES Level 2 / EQF Level 6) who wish to enhance their skills through advanced and multidisciplinary training, promoting research and preparing for integration into the professional field of conservation-restoration, particularly in the European context.

The program builds upon the content of the Higher Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage offered at ESCRBC (Decree 33/2011). Therefore, equivalent training must be accredited. This requirement is essential not only for ensuring the successful completion of the program but also for the Master’s graduates to demonstrate a level of education consistent with the standards required to practice the profession in other European countries.

To ensure students’ academic level aligns with the program’s demands and that the competencies acquired match international standards for Master’s-level professionals in conservation-restoration, prior knowledge must correspond with the core content established by the Ministry of Education for Bachelor’s-level Artistic Education in Conservation and Restoration (Royal Decree 635/2010). If not, supplementary training may be required.

Prior knowledge in the following areas is particularly relevant:
Professional Management and Organization
Conservation-Restoration Project Development
Research and Documentation Methodology
These areas are specifically developed further in this Master’s program.

Language proficiency at a B2 level is again recommended to support mobility and the possibility of participating in external internships abroad.
