Introduction to the Master’s Degree

The Master’s Degree in Artistic Education in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Europe offered by ESCRBC, in collaboration with the Royal Tapestry Factory for the specialization in Conservation of Tapestries and Knotted Carpets, provides advanced and multidisciplinary training in the field of conservation-restoration. It is oriented toward professional, academic, and research specialization.

Its main objective is to enhance and update the prior education of graduates in conservation-restoration of cultural heritage, enabling them to acquire the necessary competencies and qualification level (MECES Level 3 / EQF Level 7) to enter the European job market as highly qualified conservation-restoration professionals, as well as to participate in research activities.

The general structure of the curriculum is based on a core of compulsory subjects, along with elective courses, giving the Master’s program the flexibility needed to focus training—based on the student’s interests—on a specific specialization or in-depth study of certain subjects or topics. Therefore, each student may choose either to take specific courses or to follow a full specialization track.
