Admission Requirements

To access the Master’s Degree in Artistic Education in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Europe, it is necessary to have previous training in conservation and restoration (MECES Level 2 / EQF Level 6), accredited by holding one of the following degrees:

Official Bachelor’s-level Higher Education Degrees:

  • Higher Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage.

Admission through this route does not imply recognition or equivalence of the foreign degree for any purposes other than access to the Master’s program.

Other Higher Education Degrees:

  • Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (equivalent to a university diploma).

  • Degree in Fine Arts with a specialization or pathway in conservation and restoration.

Knowledge of foreign languages will be valued, as it is essential to facilitate student mobility and to enable participation in internships abroad.

In some courses, prior training in specific subjects or areas may be required (see the Modules, Subjects, and Courses Configuration tables and the Course Guides).

Admission Criteria and Profile

The Master’s Degree in Artistic Education in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Europe is aimed at higher education graduates in conservation and restoration, with MECES Level 2 or EQF Level 6, who wish to expand their competencies through advanced and multidisciplinary training. This program promotes research initiation and encourages integration into the field of conservation and restoration on an international, especially European, level.

The Master’s program is based on the content of the studies leading to the Higher Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage taught at the ESCRBC (Decree 33/2011), which means that equivalent prior training is required. This requirement is necessary not only to ensure that students benefit fully from the program, but also to allow graduates of the ESCRBC Master’s to demonstrate training that meets the professional standards of surrounding European countries.

To ensure that students’ academic level aligns with the program requirements and that the acquired competencies meet international standards for conservation-restoration professionals at the Master’s level, prior knowledge must match the core content established by the Ministry of Education for higher artistic education degrees in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (Royal Decree 635/2010).
Knowledge of languages at B2 level is recommended to support student mobility and access to international internships.
