Entrance Exam: Structure
The specific entrance exam for the Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Studies in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at ESCRBC will be common to all specializations and will consist of two parts:
The first part is a written, theoretical exam with a maximum duration of 2 hours. It will cover the content of one of the following high school subjects: Art History, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.
The exam will present ten topics: four from Art History, two from Physics, two from Chemistry, and two from Biology. The applicant will choose one of these topics. Along with the development of the topic, an outline of the content and a final summary highlighting the main conclusions or concepts of the topic must be included. In addition to specific knowledge, this exam will assess the relationship of these topics with general or multidisciplinary knowledge, the appropriate use of language, the ability to synthesize, and the general understanding of cultural heritage.
This first part will be graded on a scale from 0 to 10. The score will be expressed with two decimal places, rounded to the nearest hundredth, and in case of a tie, rounded up. The first part is considered passed if the score is 5 points or higher.
The second part is a practical exam with a maximum duration of 6 hours, consisting of the following sections:
Practical Aptitude: This involves completing a practical task that assesses the specific skills required for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage studies. The assessment will focus on skill, precision, and care in completing the task. The maximum duration for this section is 2 hours.
Color: This section involves completing a task on color representation. It will assess the correct application of techniques and the understanding of the values and qualities of color. The maximum duration for the color task is 2 hours.
Drawing: This section involves creating a naturalistic drawing with a mimetic approach from a provided, inanimate model. The assessment will focus on the accuracy of representation, the quality of graphic style, precision, and the finish of the work. The maximum duration for the drawing task is 4 hours.
Each section of the second part will be graded on a scale from 0 to 10. The final score for the second part will be the arithmetic mean of the scores obtained in each section, expressed with two decimal places, rounded to the nearest hundredth, and in case of a tie, rounded up. The second part is considered passed if the score is 5 points or higher.
To pass the specific entrance exam, both parts must be passed. The final score of the specific entrance exam will be the weighted average of the scores obtained in both parts, with the first part accounting for 40% and the second part for 60%. The final score will be expressed numerically, using a scale from zero to ten, with two decimal places, rounded to the nearest hundredth, and in case of a tie, rounded up. A final score of 5 or higher is required to pass the entrance exam.
