History

The origins of our institution, a pioneer in the field of conservation-restoration in our country, can be traced back to the former Central Institute of Restoration and Conservation of Works and Objects of Art, Archaeology, and Ethnology (currently the Cultural Heritage Institute of Spain), which was separated from it in 1977 when it became part of the Ministry of Education (and no longer the Ministry of Culture, as had been the case until then).
