Introduction to the Master’s Program

The Master’s Degree in Artistic Education in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Europe, offered by the ESCRBC, provides advanced and multidisciplinary training in the field of conservation-restoration. It is aimed at professional, academic, and research specialization. Its main objective is to enhance and update the prior education of graduates in the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, enabling them to acquire the competencies and qualification level required (MECES Level 3 / EQF Level 7) to integrate into the European labor market as highly qualified conservator-restorers, as well as to participate in research activities.

Only those who hold a higher education degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage or an equivalent qualification may access this Master’s program. This includes holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Education in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, Higher Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (equivalent to a university diploma), Graduate Degree in Conservation and Restoration, Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with a specialization or track in conservation and restoration, or any other qualification equivalent to the aforementioned, issued by institutions within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) or from outside it, provided that an equivalent level of training in the conservation-restoration field is accredited.

The general structure of the curriculum, based on a core of compulsory subjects complemented by elective courses, gives the program the flexibility necessary for students to tailor their training according to their interests—whether by focusing on a specific area of specialization or by deepening their knowledge in certain subjects.
