Admission Requirements

To access the Master’s Degree in Artistic Education in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Europe, it is necessary to have prior training in conservation and restoration (MECES Level 2 / EQF Level 6), accredited by holding one of the following degrees:

    1. Official higher degree qualifications:
      – Higher Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage.
      – Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration.

    1. An equivalent degree issued by an institution within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), which qualifies the holder in the issuing country to access Master’s level studies.

    1. An equivalent degree from a higher education institution outside the EHEA, without the need for official recognition, provided the competent educational authority verifies that it certifies an equivalent level of training. Access through this route will not imply official recognition of the prior degree for any other purpose than admission to this Master’s program.

– Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (equivalent to a university diploma).
– Licentiate in Fine Arts with a specialization or pathway in conservation and restoration.

Admission Criteria & Profile

This Master’s Degree is aimed at graduates in conservation and restoration (EQF Level 6 or MECES Level 2) who wish to expand their skills through advanced and multidisciplinary training, including research initiation and international (especially European) professional integration.

The curriculum is based on the content of the Higher Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage taught at ESCRBC (Decree 33/2011), so equivalent training is required. This ensures students can benefit from the program and that Master’s graduates from ESCRBC meet the professional requirements in other countries.

To ensure alignment with international standards for professionals with a Master’s degree in conservation-restoration, prior knowledge must match the core content established by the Spanish Ministry of Education for undergraduate-level artistic education in Conservation and Restoration (Royal Decree 635/2010). Otherwise, the applicant may be required to complete additional training.

Particularly important are prior studies in:

  • Professional management and organization,

  • Conservation-restoration project design,

  • Research and documentation methodology.

Language skills at B2 level are again recommended to support student mobility and international internship opportunities.
